A Budleigh-based group of caring golfers have done their bit to help the residents of an Exmouth care home.

The golfers took part in a charity golf day held at Teign Valley Golf Club, in aid of the residents’ fund at Bystock Court, which cares for people with learning difficulties.

The day consisted of an 18-hole event, followed by a virtual golf competition, with Matt Chown picking up the trophy. This was followed by a charity auction.

In total, £855 was raised, which will be put to good use, even though Bystock Court is set to close.

Budleigh’s Mark Paver, of the golf society which organised the event, said: “This money goes towards the residents’ social fund, which enables the remaining residents to be able to continue to have supervised days trips, activities such as swimming, horse riding, and walks, as well as parties and any other supervised activities that can be put on for the residents.”

Home manager Lynn Lockwood said: “We appreciate what they have done. The residents said what kind people they were.”
