Band draw on traditional English folk but their music also takes in European and American tunes

The contemporary folk trio Moore Moss Rutter perform in Topsham on Sunday, November 4.

Violinist Tom Moore, melodeon player Archie Churchill-Moss and guitarist Jack Rutter have been playing music together since 2009 and won the 2011 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award.

They released their third album earlier this year to excellent reviews, after having spent a short time apart touring and working individually with musicians including Devon’s Seth Lakeman.

The band are widely regarded as three of the best players, innovators and performers in traditional folk, and are also known for their skilful interpretations and arrangements. While their sound mainly draws on traditional English folk music, they also take European and North American tunes. Most of their music is instrumental, although Jack Rutter provides vocals for some of the tracks.

The concert takes place at Matthews Hall from 8pm. Tickets are £10 in advance or £12 on the door, available via the Topsham Folk Club website.
