A new floral boat, intended to help the people of Budleigh mark important moments in their lives, has been unveiled on the town’s seafront.

The boat, a Budleigh in Bloom project, is called Commemorations, and has been located on the beach at Marine Parade.

Bloom chairman Bob Wiltshire said the group was aware that there are already 113 memorial benches on the seafront, and it was therefore suggested that a boat should be obtained, planted up, and used to celebrate occasions such as births, marriages and anniversaries, as well as to remember sad times.

The idea was the brainchild of Dave and Sarah Parr, who witnessed the first plaque to be put on the boat.

Anyone who might be interested in using the boat can find out more by picking up a leaflet from Budleigh Salterton Tourist Information Centre.
