FLOODS latest: Rescuers deal with 500 incidents

Firefighters rescue people from water in Sidmouth, Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton and Ottery St Mary

DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has dealt with more than 500 incidents in the last 24 hours - mainly between 8pm last night and 2am this morning.

Crews have dealt with a total of more than 1,200 incidents in the last five days.

16.25, rescue from water at Maker Lane, Millbrook, Torpoint

17.31, car pushed to dry land on road from Bishops Lydeard to Bridgwater

19.24, rescue from water at Station Road, Exton, Exeter

20.01, elderly man and car removed to safety outside Bicton Arena, Bicton, Budleigh Salterton

20.10, rescue from water near Bow Inn, Sidmouth

21.11, three people rescued from water at Cullompton

21.19, rescue from water at Crossways, Sparkwell

21.24, rescue from water off A358 junction at Broadway, Ilminster

21.56, rescue from water at Barrack Road, Ottery St Mary

21.57, residents removed to safety at Kennford, Exeter

22.10, car removed to safety at Wembury Road, Wembury, Plystock

22.13, rescue from water at Salisbury Close, Feniton, Honiton

22.13, rescue from water on B3176, Sidmouth
