Flood victims in Exmouth got the chance to raise their concerns at a multi-agency flood surgery.

Held at the town hall, the surgery saw council officers, the Environment Agency, and South West Water listening to residents’ concerns.

The Exmouth event was the last in an initial series of flood surgeries, which have taken place across the county after severe flooding last month.

Attendance figures weren’t high, but the officers present said they had aquired useful information.

The Environment Agency’s Katie Snook said: “Everyone who came in had good information to give, and we’d like to say thanks to them – we really appreciate the information they gave us.”

DCC flood risk manager Martin Hutchings said: “We found out today that there was flooding internally in Douglas Avenue, and we need to look at this area. If people aren’t getting flooded, then places where they are will be the priority, but now we know there is that issue in Exmouth we have to deal with it.”

Following the surgeries, a report is expected before the end of the year.

Environment Agency project manager Andrew Woodhead said: “It will take a bit of time. We’ve got so much information we need to collate, and we need to put together a programme of how we’re going to address this.”

Anyone who was unable to attend the flood surgery, but would like to submit information, can do so by emailing floodrisk@devon.gov.uk
