A Withycombe-based husband and wife-run events company were up against the big beasts of the industry at the finals of the Westcountry Wedding Awards 2013.

Eat with Englands, in Green Close, is the fastest growing wedding, events and outside catering company in the South West.

Run by head chef Darren England, 44, and pastry and desserts chef and bar manager Jane England, 36, they have a fast-growing reputation for personal, friendly and professional service.

The firm only use local in-season produce, and all the food is home-made. But despite being nominated for the finals at Crownhill Fort, Plymouth, they were pipped at the post.

Jane said: “This was the first time we had been entered for an award.

“Sadly we did not win, but as a small family-run business up against large companies who have been operating for over 25 years, we were thrilled just to be nominated.

“Becoming a finalist has given us recognition and has rewarded the hard work we put into every event we cater for. Nothing gives us greater pleasure than to see content guests enjoying their food.”
