Exhibitions, a workshop, a concert and a traditional Victorian tea to boost church restoration funds

A fundraising festival takes place this weekend (August 25 and 26) to raise the final £2,500 needed to pay for the refurbishment of the organ at St Peter’s Church, Budleigh Salterton.

The Friends of St Peter’s Church have organised a series of events starting with an exhibition of stained glass and paintings by the Reverend Andrew Johnson, who designed and created the stained glass window recently installed in the church in memory of Judy Robinson. Andrew will present a workshop at 10am on Saturday morning and give a lecture on repairing and creating stained glass at 2 pm on Saturday afternoon, tickets are £35.

The festival continues on Sunday with a concert at 2.30 pm followed by a Victorian tea. David Julian Davies will present Organ by the Sea, a selection of light Edwardian and Victorian music. Tickets for the concert are £7.50 and available on the door; tickets for the tea are £5 but must be booked in advance by calling 01395 443397.
