A family-owned funeral directors has opened its doors in Exmouth for the first time.

Exmouth and District Funeral Services has launched on the site of the former Sleemans Outfitters, in Exeter Road, following renovation works.

Paul Shoolbridge, who spearheaded the move, said it was a ‘natural progression’ for Shoolbridge Funeral Services, adding: “We have been operating in East Devon for over 25 years, so felt it was the right time to expand into Exmouth.

“We have looked after many families and conducted numerous funerals in Exmouth from our Honiton and Exeter branches, so this seemed like a natural move forwards.”

The premises has been transformed and offers a private ‘chapel of rest,’ modern arrangement room, mortuary facility, open plan office and reception area.

The official opening was attended by Paul, his parents Terry and Penny, the town crier Roger Bourgein and the Reverend James Hutchings.
