Exmouth Writer’s Circle seeks new members and other news

Exmouth Writers’ Circle is looking for new members. Read this and more.

CHARITY FASHION SHOW: For the first time the British Red Cross in Devon will be hosting a charity fashion show and sale, showcasing new and nearly new seasonal party wear and vintage clothing.

The show will feature local volunteer models and take place at The Rougemont Thistle Hotel, Queen Street, Exeter from 7pm, on Thursday, November 8.

Tickets are currently on sale across all Red Cross retail shops in Devon priced at £10, which includes a glass of wine or juice.

WRITERS WANTED: Exmouth Writers’ Circle is looking for new members. The group now holds two monthly meetings – on the third Wednesday of every month at Glenorchy Church Pilgrim Rooms, between 2pm and 4pm, and a new meeting on the fourth Monday of the month, between 7pm and 9pm, at The Powder Monkey.

Among the group’s activities is producing a charity anthology, which last year raised £700 for Little Bridge House Children’s Hospice.

PEACE PRAISE: The Lib Dem Euro MP for East Devon, Sir Graham Watson has praised the awarding of the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize to the European Union.

He said: “The EU has enjoyed the longest period of peace by overcoming old rivalries through trade and creating prosperity.

“Over 60 years of unbroken peace between the old tribes of Europe, that is an achievement more than worthy of the Nobel peace prize.”
