An Exmouth businessman is taking on his first marathon to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
John Doran, 40, will be running in the Dublin Marathon on October 29.
John, who is a director of Peninsula Asset Finance, will be collecting sponsorship in aid of the charity’s Exmouth and Budleigh group.
He said: “I know that Macmillan Cancer Support is such a good cause that both through Peninsula and as a family we already do everything we can to help, so when the chance came to take part in the Dublin Marathon and be able to increase the support we are able to give them, I jumped at the opportunity.
“This will be my first marathon, so it is certainly something different to look forward to, but with so many people needing help and assistance from Macmillan I’m so pleased to be able to make my small contribution.
“I would be really grateful for any support or sponsorship. I know I need to train hard in order to complete the run but of course there is always the incentive of the after event party, which I imagine will feature a famous Dublin brewed beverage!”
To sponsor John, visit www.justgiving.com/JohnDoran40, or send a text to 70070 followed by code JAMD 72 then the amount, for example £10.
You can also follow John’s progress on the local Macmillan website at www.exmouthandbudleighmacmillan.co.uk, and through their local newsletter.
