Grenadier Estates has submitted its planning application for a new watersports centre in Queens Drive.

A planning application to build a new watersports centre on Exmouth seafront has now been submitted.

Applicant Grenadier Estates is looking to build the new centre, which will include café, restaurant and retail facilities, on a site currently occupied by a car park in Queen’s Drive.

This represents phase two of East Devon District Council’s Exmouth Seafront Regeneration Scheme.

Phase one, expected to begin early this year, will see the Queen’s Drive road realigned and a new car park formed. It is then hoped that work can begin on the watersports centre, subject to planning approval, later this year.

Phase three will include permanent attractions on the former Fun Park site.

After the authority announced last summer that it had signed a deal with Grenadier Estates, public consultation events were held at Ocean, in The Espalanade, in October and November to gauge public opinion on the project.

East Devon District Council planners will make the final decision on the application.
