Police are to send warning letters to motorists caught speeding in a recent sting in Brixington

Letters from the law are winging their way from police to motorists caught speeding during a recent sting in Brixington.

Motorists were tracked along Dinan Way, between Shakespeare Way and Tennyson Way, using a police radar speed detection device.

Police community support officer Chris Ball said the aim had been to educate and a deter motorists against speeding.

He said: “This area is a 30mph zone and vehicles that were found to be driving over the limit will be receiving a letter from the police.

“Tickets will be enforced on future occasions.

“Many operations of this kind have been pencilled in for Exmouth.”

The speed monitoring system found five vehicles were travelling between 21-25mph, while 12 registered between 26-30mph.

Some 37 vehicles recorded speeds of 31-35mph and 20 were monitored to be travelling between 36-40pmh.

The officer said two motorists were caught speeding above 40pmh.
