This week we have turned back the clock to 1944 to bring you a flavour of life in Exmouth during World War Two and what was making the news in the Exmouth Journal.

This week in 1944, Exmouth welcomed back Lance Corporal Horace Arnold, who had returned home from the war after his time spent in Normandy with his comrades of the 1st Airborne Division supply column.

Also talk of the town was the happy news of Mr George Law, who was promoted to Lieutenant Commander, RNVR. George commanded a flotilla of minesweepers in the “Wavy Navy”.
