LED has reached the final of the UKactive Awards 2018

Exmouth Leisure Centre is waiting to learn if it has won a national award to be named sport centre of the year.

The winner will be announced at the end of June; the centre is hoping to be crowned UKactive Awards 2018 regional and national club or centre of the year.

To qualify for entry the centre had to demonstrate it had made substantial progress and exceeded expectations in the last 12 months.

Managed by LED Leisure Management, and supported by Sport England, the facility has benefitted from more than £3million of investment in the last three years.

Winners will be announced at an award ceremony in Manchester on June 21.

The LED team said it was hoping to bring home a trophy; they thanked customers for the ‘huge’ number votes which secured the leisure a centre a place in the finals.

Simon Findel-Hawkins, Exmouth Leisure Centre manager, said:

“The team at Exmouth Leisure Centre would like to thank everyone who voted for us.

“Thanks to the funding from Sport England and East Devon District Council, which made this project possible, we have been able to transform Exmouth Leisure Centre.

“Our loyal customers and committed team of staff have created a community and state of the art facility of which Exmouth can be very proud.”
