An online poll to find the gin capitals of the world named Exmouth in the top 20; the town came in 17th, below top spot London, Berlin, New York and fourth place Spain.

Exmouth has been named the 17th gin capital in the world in an online poll.

New data released from travel company Flash Pack has pinpointed gin capitals of the world, according to Instagram; the company combined more than 3,600 uses of the most popular gin hashtags on Instagram including #Gin, #Ginlovers and #Ginoclock, to create an interactive map, to show who is drinking the most gin and where.

Exmouth came in the top 20 - it was 17th, below top spot London, Berlin, New York and fourth place Spain.

Its position on the gin lovers’ league table was determined by the number of gin-related hashtags used by Exmouth gin drinkers.

The town was also beaten by Ireland’s gin lovers in Dublin and those in Linne, in the Netherlands; who came in joint tenth place.

Lee Thompson, Flash Pack spokesman, said: “The data and interactive map does reveal some interesting insights into where gin lovers are based around the world.”
