FriendsUK Social Group, based in Exmouth, raised more than £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support after hosting a coffee morning and duck race

Exmouth-based FriendsUK Social Group held its annual coffee morning at the Devoncourt Hotel, in Douglas Avenue, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event, attended by Exmouth Mayor Brian Cole and his wife Beryl, raised £1,228 for the charity.

The coffee morning included bring-and-buy and cake stalls, a prize raffle and a grand duck race.

Around 100 FriendsUK Social Group supported the coffee morning.

Event organiser David Gray thanked those who helped and donated.

He said: “I would like to thank the hotel management and all who assisted in making this a most successful morning.”

FriendsUK Social Group was formed in 2007 and currently has around 200 members in the Exmouth and East Devon area.

Members enjoy two coffee mornings a week, plus monthly events and outings.
