Speed checks carried out in Withycombe Raleigh have proved a success, say Exmouth police

Recent speed checks carried out by Exmouth police in Withycombe Raleigh have resulted in action against those caught breaking the law.

The Hulham Road speed checks were part of an on-going crackdown on speeding vehicles, following concerns raised by the community. The police said the average speed recorded last Sunday by officers carrying out the checks was below 30mph.

Withycombe neighbourhood beat manger PC Martin Young said: “Whilst those who were caught speeding are being dealt with accordingly, I am pleased to say the average speed was 29.2mph.”

The police said complaints from residents about speeding vehicles in the area had ceased in recent months. Officers are asking anyone with speeding concerns in the Withycombe Raleigh or Halsdon area to contact Police Community Support Officer Ben Tithecott, by telephoning 101.
