An Exmouth group which helps people with dementia says it would welcome new members.

The Exmouth Courtney Memory Café held its annual fundraiser recently at Exmouth Rugby Club, attended by guests including Exmouth mayor Brian Cole.

The event raised £439.

Discussing the group’s work, lead volunteer Jean Honey said: “We provide an afternoon where people can come and enjoy each others company and support.

“Sometimes we have entertainers, and sometimes we do bingo or quizzes or activities.”

Jean says the group is also useful for husbands or wives of people with dementia, who are often their carers, as they are able to network, and the group can point them towards relevant bodies if they need more help.

The memory café meets on the last Friday of every month, between 2pm and 4pm, at the Imperial Hotel.

For more information, call Jean on 01395 223050.
