Just two years on from starting her own business, Stacie Quinn says it was a ‘massive surprise’ to win the Young Entrepreneur of the Year at last year’s Exmouth Business Awards.

A fully qualified and insured beauty therapist, massage therapist, make-up artist and aesthetics practitioner, she launched Blissful Beauty by Stacie in 2015.

Travelling to clients in the Exmouth area, Stacie offers beauty and aesthetic services.

“I’ve always dreamed to be my own boss – have my own business, and my own brand,” she said.

“I took the plunge in January 2015. As people showed an interest, it was down to word of mouth from my lovely clients.

“Even till this day, I’m still recommended to clients’ friends and family members. My business journey has been a positive and uplifting experience.”

Although 2016 was a busy year (including a wedding fair at Exmouth’s Devoncourt Hotel, an increase in clientele, and 70 five-star reviews on her Facebook page), the Exmouth business award took her by surprise.

She said: “I really didn’t expect it. Winning the award had raised my business profile. Clients and new clients recognised my winning from the newspaper and social media. Clients feel reassured that they are dealing with an award-winning company.”

During the past year, Stacie has expanded her company, becoming a training academy, offering certified training courses.

“This happened in late 2017, and is already proving to be a success,” she added.

Stacie is impressed by the Exmouth Business Awards: “They are a great thing for the town. It brings local businesses together and creates networking opportunities.”

And she recommends any local business that’s thinking of entering, to do so.

“Remember that what you have achieved so far within your business is amazing. Winning an award is a bonus, but even being in the final three is an achievement.”

Soon to go on maternity leave, Stacie will be hosting another wedding fayre on June 9.

“I’m also continuing to teach local people of Exmouth and beauty businesses to expand their options. Upon my return in January 2019, there will be some exciting changes to Blissful Beauty – watch this space!”
