An Exmouth chippy is frying high after they were voted as having the best chips in the region.

Krispies Fish and Chip Shop in Exeter Road gained more votes than any other chippy in the SouthWest in the Choice Chip Awards for Chip Week.

This week is Chip Week 2012, and recognises and rewards the quality chips being served by shops in nine different regions.

Chip fans voted in their thousands in the Choice Chip Awards, with more than 400 chip shops across the country involved and 35,000 votes received.

Krispies topped the league table for fryers in the South West of England.

Owner Kelly Barnes said: “It’s unbelievable and I can’t thank our customers enough for voting for us.

“It really makes me proud to say we’ve got the best chippy chips in the region!”

Kate Cox, Chip Week campaign manager for the Potato Council, said: “Chip Week is a celebration of the nation’s love of chips and as we suspected people are very passionate about their chips.”
