A trio of cyclists from Exmouth Rugby Club will be riding more than 700 miles to raise first aid funds for the club’s junior sides.

Martin Walker, 38, of Dinan Way, Ricky Croal, 48, of The Marles, and Craig ‘Taff’ Wilkins, 37, of Salisbury Road, will be cycling to all 12 English Premiership rugby clubs.

They are raising funds to provide independent medical cover at all the Exmouth junior sides’ home fixtures, and also for the RFU Injured Players’ Foundation.

The trio is hoping to raise around £5,000 - and so far has reached £3,000.

Martin said: “I heard that someone cycled round the football clubs, and I thought it would be a good idea to do something similar with the rugby clubs.”

The trio describe themselves as cycling novices, having never done anything other than social riding, and have undergone months of training to be ready for the challenge.

They say they are riding for an important cause - making sure the club can carry on providing the best first aid cover to its young players.

The trio will begin their cycle in Newcastle on April 12.

To sponsor them, visit www.justgiving.com/trycycle12, text ERFC12 £5 to 70070, or fill out a sponsorship form, which is available at the club or direct from the riders.

Anyone sponsoring for £10 or more will also be entered into a draw, with prizes including a signed Bath RFC shirt.
