School needs lollipop person

An Exmouth school is appealing for someone to help their pupils get to lessons safely.

Marpool Primary School has a vacancy for a lollipop person at its Moorfield Road entrance.

Headteacher Rachel Pattison said: “Road safety is a really important part of school.

“The children need to feel safe and secure crossing what is a very busy main road.”

With road safety in mind, a group of the school’s year three and year four pupils are currently doing work with retiring police officer Martin Young.

Mrs Pattison said: “They’re working to raise the whole profile around parking sensibly and driving sensibly around school, and it would be lovely to get a new lollipop person who can work with the children to get them to school safely.”

The new recruit would be needed between 8.20am and 8.50am and between 3.10pm and 3.40pm Monday to Friday, plus one hour a week for turning on lights.

The salary is £6.30 per hour, and training and uniforms will be provided.
