Thirty children from five Exmouth primaries took part in an Olympic Values Day at Littleham CE School.

Pupils from Littleham, St Peter’s, Withycombe, The Beacon and St Joseph’s spent the day exploring the Olympic and Paralympic values. T

The day ended in an open Collective Worship at school which was attended by parents and visitors.

The day was run by the ICE team youth workers (Initiatives in Christian Education) who are based at Exmouth Community College.

They led a range of workshops during the day based on the values of friendship, excellence, respect, determination, courage, equality and inspiration.

Thomas Hartnell, year six pupil from St Peter’s School said, “It was a fun day and we made lots of new friends.”

Nigel Candelent, Youth and Family Worker, said: “It worked really very well. There was a really nice mix of children, with so many different personalities.”

James Willis, Youth leader, said: “It was a day where year 6’s became year 7’s! A day where they could get a taste of what the community college will be like without even being there. They got to make new friends with guys who will be in their tutor group in September.”

Headteacher Duncan Nelmes said: “When I suggested to the ICE team that we hold a Values Day for local primary school, I never realised that it would work so well “Thanks to the ICE team …I really hope that this will be a yearly thing.”
