Bassetts Farm Primary School is hoping to get kids wheely excited about reading, after a bus full of books was installed in its playground.
The ‘library bus’ was paid for by the school’s PTA, and filled with books donated by parents.
Separate from the main school library, it allows children to read during breaks and lunchtimes.
The school has also opened a new arts studio, funded by Devon County Council.
On hand to cut the ribbon and open the bus was Plymouth Laureate Thom Boulton, who also ran workshops and did humorous poetry readings with pupils.
Headteacher Sarah Bennett said: “The library bus enthrals the children and they can’t wait to get on it. It’s really about a love of reading.
“It’s a fantastic space. It’s got comfy seating and a whole range of books.
“The art studio will enable us to do lots more dance, music and drama.”
