Exmouth pupils welcome the Year of the Horse

THE Chinese New Year was celebrated in great style recently by pupils at Withycombe Raleigh Church of England Primary School.
From making colourful dragons to learning a dragon dance and setting up their own Chinese restaurant, the pupils really enjoyed welcoming in the Year of the Horse.
“The foundation children had a brilliant time celebrating the Chinese New Year,” said Mrs Sam Vivian, one of the foundation teachers.
“Activities included Chinese writing, role-play Chinese restaurant, making noodles out of modelling clay, using chopsticks to pick up rice and string, making Chinese dragons using paper and lollypop sticks, and Chinese dancing.”
One of the pupils said: “I enjoyed dancing like a dragon. I made my own Chinese puppet.”
“We learnt about China and how it’s the Year of the Horse,” said another. “We made noodles out of Play-Doh. It was lots of fun.”
Another said: “In China they have envelopes with money. I think I would get a lot of money as I’m really good!”
