The Queen’s cousin, the Duke of Kent, will visit this year’s Devon County Show, it has been announced.

The Duke of Kent is to attend the Devon County Show at Westpoint, Exeter on Friday, May 23.

It will be The Duke’s first visit to the county’s largest annual event where he will be accompanied by Show President Sir Eric Dancer, KCVO, CBE, JP, the Lord Lieutenant of Devon.

Sir Eric said: “We are honoured and delighted that The Duke of Kent will be with us this year and we are preparing a varied programme to reflect his interests.”

The Duke undertakes a large number of official Royal engagements and has close associations with many charities, professional bodies and other organisations.

The 119th Show will be held on May 22-24 and will celebrate its 25th anniversary at its permanent showground at Westpoint, owned by the Devon County Agricultural Association.

The celebration of country living includes livestock, local food and drink, flowers, gardens and handicrafts.

There will also be non-stop entertainment in six rings, including the thrills and spills of the Kangaroo Kids on stunt quad bikes.

Advance tickets are on sale from the showground, tourist information centres and online. Up to three children (aged 5 to 15) get free admission on Saturday when accompanied by a paying adult.
