Money raised by a charity bingo and jumble sale has paid for new school equipment for youngsters in East Budleigh.

The events organised by Budleigh Salterton Lions Club saw £1,200 raised, a total which has now been donated to Drake’s Primary School PTFA.

That money has now been used to buy visualisers for every classroom and a pair of iPads as part of a drive by the PTFA to invest in improvements to the school’s ICT (information and communications technology) equipment.

A spokesperson for the PTFA said: “It will enrich the children’s learning and be beneficial for the teachers as well.”

Over the course of 12 months from September 2017, the PTFA has raised £8,000 for the school, with £5,500 being invested in ICT equipment.

Budleigh Lions’ next event will be the annual duck race taking place on Sunday (September 30). The ducks will be released into the River Otter from Clamour Bridge at around 11am.
