The police have issued an appeal for public help after a man was twice bitten by a dog in Exmouth.

Exmouth police are appealing for help tracing the owner of a dog which has twice bitten a young man walking in the Withycombe Raleigh area.

Officers said the grey-coloured dog is described as being slightly larger than a Labrador with short hair.

Withycombe Raleigh police community support officer Ben Tithecott said the animal had bitten a man on two separate occasions while on the cycle path behind Phear Park, between Bradham Lane and Marpool Hill.

The police said the attacks occurred between 4pm and 5pm on weekdays.

PCSO Tithecott said: “Officers are working on tracking down the owner and will deal with this appropriately when they do.

“However, could we please warn all users of the cycle path and Phear Park to be mindful of this dog.”

If you can help identify the dog’s owner, contact PCSO Tithecott on 101.
