Dentist David to cycle for charity

A cycling dentist is preparing to get his teeth into an epic nine day ride, with the aim of raising thousands of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
David Ward, aged 50, who lives in East Budleigh and works at Exmouth’s Bicton Place Dental Practice, will be riding from John o’Groats to Lands End, a distance of 874 mile.
He will be doing this in the company of 29 other cyclists, on a ride organised by dental payment plan specialists Denplan.
David, who has been at Bicton Place for more than 20 years, said: “I am a keen cyclist and great admirer of Macmillan Cancer Support. Although I’m feeling a bit daunted at the prospect of the ride, I’m determined to complete it to raise money for such a fantastic charity.
“Training for the challenge has been tricky, especially trying to fit sessions around working at the practice and spending time with my family, so I’m crossing my fingers that I’ve done enough to make it to Land’s End!
“Patients have been so generous with their sponsorship contributions. I am extremely grateful to them and my friends and family for all their support and hope that I can do them proud.”
So far Bicton Place has raised more than £4,600, ahead of the start of the challenge on Saturday, May 10.
