County highways chiefs have agreed to build a bus shelter on East Budleigh Road and to recognise two bus stops either side of the B3178.
At the last full town council meeting, county councillor Christine Channon confirmed that bus signage posts will be erected on either side of the road where West Hill meets Exmouth Road.
Deputy mayor Steve Hall also confirmed that a bus shelter would be built on East Budleigh Road next to the Budleigh in Bloom flower boat.
It follows concerns raised by the town council’s traffic committee.
Cllr Channon said: “Hopefully now people won’t get stranded. Bus drivers do an extremely good job but you get awkward ones; one deliberately left someone stranded there just because they did not stick their hand out.”
The posts cost £200 each and will be paid for out of the community budget.
Cllr Hall said: “The bus stop is used by students. They will have some protection from the elements.”
