A historic house that has been refurbished as part of a new housing development has been officially opened by the leader of East Devon District Council.

Councillor Paul Diviani cut the ribbon at Withycombe House, which has been restored and converted into homes as part of developer C G Fry’s Hillcrest development.

The official launch of the refurbished house gave visitors a chance to look around the Grade II listed gothic villa, built circa 1850, and to enjoy a wine tasting and food matching session courtesy of Jim Kingston of Topsham Wines.

Cllr Diviani said: “It was a pleasure to be part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony and see at first hand the quality of workmanship undertaken to restore Withycombe House.

“Family-owned independent developer C G Fry has shown us once again how they use their extensive experience in listed buildings by taking a landmark building and restoring it to its former glory, to create high quality and bespoke homes with the surrounding area.”
