Comedy night planned in Topsham and other news

The Comedy Night for Human Rights will take place at Matthews Hall. Read this and more.

ALPHA ARTISTS: Seven artists are holding an exhibition of their work in Topsham.

The artists, members of the Alpha Group, will be showing work including abstracts, landscape flowers and still life.

The exhibition will take place at Wixels Studio in Ferry Road on October 6 and October 7, opening between 11am and 4pm.

AMNESTY NIGHT: A fundraising comedy night is being held in Topsham.

The Comedy Night for Human Rights will take place at Matthews Hall on October 26 at 7.30pm, featuring performances from Rosie Wilby, O’Shea and Ogilvie and Julie Jepson. Tickets cost £10, and are available now from Topsham Bookshop, with all funds raised going to Amnesty International.

ROMERO PERFORMS: The latest Exeter Electronic Keyboard Club concert is being held in Topsham.

It features John Romero, who plays accordion as well as conventional keyboard, and takes place on October 4, with doors opening at 6.45pm for a 7.30pm start.

Tickets for non-members cost £6, and can be bought on the door.

APPROVED: Plans to build a new plant room at the Devon and Somerset Fire Headquarters at Clyst St George have been approved by East Devon District Council.

WATERCOLOUR WONDER: A series of watercolour workshops are being held in Topsham.

They take place in Matthews Hall on October 11, 12, 17 and 18, and November 8 and 9, between 10am and 4pm.

ON STAGE: An amateur production of The Dumb Waiter takes place this week at Matthews Hall.

The performances will be on Sunday and Monday, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £7, and are available on the door or in advance from Topsham Bookshop.

CHURCH LUNCH: A ploughman’s lunch is being held to raise money for Clyst St Mary Church. It takes place at St Margaret’s Church rooms in Topsham on October 5, between noon and 2pm. The lunch will cost £5 per person, and is to raise funds for roof repairs.

EXTENSION: Plans to extend a Topsham home have been approved by Exeter City Council. The plan is to build a ground-floor extension at Reynolds in White Street.

DROP-IN: Topsham charity the Estuary League of Friends is holding a free drop-in session at Topsham Library. It takes place on October 4 between 10am and 1pm, and is a chance to meet members of the charity and find out about their services.
