Kind-hearted volunteers and organisations across Exmouth and East Devon have put the kettle on to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Among those taking part in the charity’s Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning was Exmouth’s FriendsUK social group, which held its event at the Devoncourt Hotel.
Mayor of Exmouth John Humphreys joined 200 members for the event, which included a bring and buy sale, prize draw and a duck race, and £1,200 was raised.
On the same morning, friends Vicki Drinkwater, Stacey Onoywieta, Denise Gayson and Laura Taylor held their event in Lympstone, which, as well as the usual coffee morning fare, also featured mini-facials and spray tanning, with around £600 being raised.
Vicki said: “It was a fantastic community effort and a great total for Macmillan.”
Organisers thanked beauty therapists Natasha Dowling and Deborah Maddocks and Kim’s Mobile Tanning, from Bristol.
Other events in Exmouth were held at Morgan Court, Michael’s Restaurant, and at Marpool Primary School.
So far the event nationally has raised more than £7 million.
