Exmouth has been presented with a dedicated clean machine to keep The Strand in tip-top condition.

A street clean machine was officially handed over to Exmouth this week in a bid to keep The Strand and town in tip-top condition.

The Hako Citymaster – a washing and scrubbing machine – has been jointly funded thanks to Devon County Council and East Devon District Council.

The two authorities agreed to share the cost of the new equipment after recognising The Strand was a prime location for visitors.

The district council said the machine, which has been specially-bought for Exmouth, had been ‘hard at work’, cutting through a build-up of grime.

Devon Devon County Councillor Stuart Hughes, member for highways and transportation, said: “The Strand has become a real asset for the town centre following its recent refurbishment, and we want to ensure it’s kept in a condition that residents and visitors can continue to enjoy, without being spoiled by unwanted litter and stained pavements.”
