A Budleigh woman is planning to leap out of a plane for charity in memory of her grandfather.

Chloe Williams, 22, will be taking part in the sponsored skydive to raise vital funds for Parkinson’s UK.

She was inspired to take on the challenge by her grandfather Ivor Huish, who lived with Parkinson’s for more than 25 years, before his death in 2006 at the age of 75.

Chloe said: “I had been thinking about taking part in a skydive for a while, so when I heard about the event, I couldn’t resist and signed up straight away.

“Being able to combine the skydive with raising awareness and funds for Parkinson’s UK was too good an opportunity to pass up.

“Parkinson’s UK was there not only for my granddad, but also for my grandma and the charity helped them both to cope with the condition, so I want to raise as much as I can to help find a cure.

“I’ve seen first-hand how the charity makes a difference to the lives of people living with Parkinson’s, and I want to ensure the support is there for others in the future. I’m really looking forward to the event as it is something I’m only going to do once in my life, and I know that my friends and family will be extremely supportive and hopefully calm me down on the day!”

Chloe has previously supported Parkinson’s UK by running the Bath Half Marathon last year, when she raised more than £440.

She also asked family members to make a donation to the charity instead of giving her Christmas presents last year.

Chloe will be joining 35 other skydivers at the event on April 26, and is hoping to raise £1,000.
