A charity garden party with live music in East Budleigh has raised more than £500 for the Budleigh Salterton Memory Café, which provides support for people with dementia and their carers.

More than 60 people attended the event, which featured music from local singer/songwriters Anna Marie Waite, Sarah Yeo and Pete Falloon.

It was co-ordinated by Jeff Sleeman, both of whose parents have been helped by the Memory Café.

He said: “It was a really lovely afternoon, and I’m very grateful to the musicians who willingly gave their time and talents, as well as to all the people who came and donated so generously to such a worthwhile cause. It was very gratifying to make such a substantial amount, and I know the money will be a great help to the club in providing even more beneficial activities.”

The Memory Café is based at the Budleigh Health and Wellbeing Hub and offers fortnightly meetings, with games, quizzes, singalongs and other social activities.
