An intrepid group of walkers from Exmouth have hiked to the top of one of England’s highest waterfalls for charity.

The trek to the top of the 220ft Canonteign Falls on Dartmoor saw Steve Gazzard, town crier Roger Bourgein and landlady of the Bicton Inn Alison Brockbank raising money for the British Lung Foundation, as part of Steve’s fundraising in memory of his daughter Sarah who died of lung disease last year.

They were joined by Carole and Phillipa McNaughton, who were raising money for the British Limbless Ex-Servicemen’s Association (BLESMA), and Colin Sayer, who spontaneously decided to join the team on their walk after going along to give support.

Steve said: “It was a fantastic day. When we got to the top there was a really spectacular view over Devon and our illustrious town crier gave a fantastic shout in memory of my Sarah.”

Steve says money raised for the British Lung Foundation will hopefully reach £1,000, with more than £250 set to be raised for BLESMA.

Steve will also be holding his latest organ donor registration event in the Magnolia Centre this Saturday, between 11am and 4pm, having already registered 1350 since June last year.
