Two local causes have become the latest beneficiaries of donations from Budleigh Salterton Lions Club.
The Lions have presented a cheque for £1,000 to the appeal for a new swimming pool roof at St Peter’s School, and £500 to East Budleigh’s Salem Chapel.
Julie Cotton, of the Warm Wish group which raises funds for the pool, said: “The Warm Wish group are very grateful to the Budleigh Lions for their generous donation of £1,000 towards our current fundraising.
“This donation takes us one step closer to our total of £40,000, which is now within reach.
“We recognise the amazing work that the Lions do for the town and wider community, and are so pleased that they decided to be a part of our special effort to provide continued swimming and coaching for the babies, children and adults who visit St. Peters School Pool.”
Salem Chapel’s Kathy Moyle said the money from the Lions would go towards its fundraising appeal for maintenance, which has previously received £500 from the Norman Family Charitable Trust and £250 from the Otter Valley Association.
She said: “This was money from the Lions towards our fundraising for repair work we have got to do to the front of the chapel, and we were very appreciative of it.”
