Autumnal winds of change are blowing through St Peter’s Church, with the departure of a churchwarden and the arrival of a new curate.
David Bond, who has served as a churchwarden for six years, is much loved by the congregation, for his faithful and hard-working nature, and also for his popular wine tasting evenings.
He is leaving for Cuddesden Theological College, Oxford, to train for the ministry, while travelling in the opposite direction, having just finished her training there, is Annita Denny, who is joining the Raleigh Mission Community as a part time curate.
Rector of St Peter’s the Reverend Anne Charlton said: “During that time, I will be training Annita to take services, give pastoral care, take funerals and help with the bereaved. She will effectively be working on a voluntary basis, so we are very fortunate to have her.”
A special service was held to welcome Annita and say goodbye to David, who was given a warm send off, with the congregation hoping he will be given enough leisure time to keep up-to-date with the best wines.
