A serious collision between a car and a motorcycle has occurred this afternoon in Topsham.

A police spokesman said the incident happened at approximately 3.40pm near Retreat Drive.

Police were called to reports that a motorcyclist had been in collision with a car.

The motorcyclist had a pillion passenger at the time of the collision and both are injured.

The vehicles involved are a Jeep and a Suzuki motorcycle.

There are no details of injuries at this time but ambulance crews are in attendance.

The road has been closed at the scene and is likely to remain closed for some time.

Closures have been placed at the Countess Wear end of Topsham Road and Denver Road to provide diversions, and officers are advising drivers to avoid the area if at all possible.
