A Budleigh Salterton café has served up a hat trick of success, after receiving a Taste of the West Gold Award for the third year in a row.

Tea and Tittle Tattle was praised by the judges, who visit anonymously, for all aspects of its service, with its locally-sourced produce receiving particular praise.

Although a Gold Award is nothing new for the business, owner Gareth Radley was especially delighted to see the café had hit new heights in the judges’ report, which awarded an incredible 99 marks out of a possible 100.

Gareth said: “The report blew us away to be honest. They come in anonymously and only say who they are afterwards. We knew from the noises they were making they were enjoying themselves, but the feedback is fantastic.

“We are very proud to have achieved this, and it is as a result of our hard work in sourcing and using local produce, providing excellent service and value for money and serving good quality food.

“It is very satisfying to receive acknowledgment that we are doing things well.

“Also we were really pleased that they had our Vintage High Tea as it is something we have only introduced recently and, although we think it is good, it is great to get independent feedback like this.”
