BY-ELECTION: At the close of nominations last week, four candidates had been nominated for the post of town councillor in the Town ward.
The candidates are: Tim Cope (Independent); David Gwiliam (Labour); Ian Brownbill (Liberal Democrats); and Colin Rogers (Conservative).
The election is on Thursday, March 14, and follows Councillor Will McConnell standing down.
Town clerk Colin Poole said: “The election is only for residents living in the Town ward. If you are not sure which ward you are in, you will get a poll card through the post. If you don’t, you’re not eligible to vote.”
EXTENSION BACKED: Plans to convert and extend a garage at a Brixington bungalow into an extension have been backed by town planners.
On Monday the plans at 21 Anson Road were supported by the town council’s planning committee.
Councillor Maddie Chapman said: “These are retirement bungalows. They want to move the garage forward and stick an extension on the back.
“This has already been done to other properties, so I see no problem.”
District planners will make the final decision.
