An Exmouth couple have brought together top people in their industry to raise funds for Budleigh charity the Harry Cunningham Trust.

The trust was set up by Niki and Jamie Cunningham last year, in memory of their son Harry, who died, aged 26 hours, after complications during labour.

The trust raises funds for the neonatal unit at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, where Harry was looked after, but also supports other causes related to sick babies and bereaved families.

The trust’s latest donation has come from Grant and Jane Northover, who run Phab Wholesale in Exeter.

They found out about the trust as their daughter Ellen attends the Dolphin Pre-school and Nursery with Niki and Jamie’s son William.

The cause is particularly close to Grant and Jane’s heart, as they have themselves lost a child who was stillborn.

To raise funds, they held a seminar for hair and beauty professionals at their firm, featuring top speakers Lee Harper, David Drew and Alistair Banks, who gave up their time for free.

The event raised £2,838, part of which will go to the trust directly, with the rest being passed through the trust to Exeter SANDS, a group which supports bereaved families.

Phab has previously raised nearly £3,000 for Exeter SANDS through fundraising during the past year.

Niki said: “I’m absolutely overwhelmed. It’s so generous and kind they thought of us.”
