Budleigh allotment clearance work under way and other news

The clearing of the Greenway Lane allotments in preparation for work on the new Leisure Gardens began on Monday, September 17. Read this and more.

COUNTRY MUSIC: An award-winning US country duo are performing at Otterton Mill next month.

American country/Americana singer songwriter Eve Selis and Marc Intravia are playing on Thursday, October 11, as part of their UK and Irish tour. It will be their only performance in Devon and the tour is to support the UK release of their CD Family Tree.


EXTENSION: A plan to build a replacement conservatory and single-storey extension at 1 Westbourne Terrace has been submitted to district planners.


GREENWAY LANE: The clearing of the Greenway Lane allotments in preparation for work on the new Leisure Gardens began on Monday, September 17.

The work is in preparation to construct the new allotments, which should be open by January and is part of the Greenway Lane housing development. Full plans are expected to be submitted to district planners within the next six weeks.


OUTBUILDING PLAN: Proposals to remove existing outbuildings and build a single-storey extension at Watersmead Cottage, Frogmore Road, East Budleigh have been submitted. The final decision will be made by district planners.


WATER TALK: A talk by Neil Whiter from South West Water, will be held at EaRTH, Bicton, on Thursday, September 27, at 6.30pm for 7pm start.

He will discuss how people can adapt to the impact of climate change on our water supplies.

Neil will give tips on how to make every drop count and turn a looming disaster into a success story for nature’s first soft drink and keep those hoses running.

THANKS: Otterton’s Beryl Millington and June Kennard-Simpson thank all their friends and relatives who helped raise £515 for the charity Shelterbox.


AIR AMBULANCE: An elderly woman, who collapsed on Budleigh Salterton beach on Sunday just before noon, was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.


OTTERTON: The Otterton Harvest Supper will be on Monday, October 1, at 7.30pm, in the village hall. Tickets are £5 available from Anne Radcliffe on 01395 568059 and June Kennard-Simpson 01395 568877. Everyone is welcome, and donations of raffle prizes will be much appreciated. Take your own cutlery.


CELIDH: Exmouth Rotary Club is holding a ceilidh at Budleigh Salterton Public Hall on Saturday, October 27, in aid of their international relief fund.


BINGO: On Saturday, September 29, to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young, at East Budleigh Village Hall, by the village football club, at 7.30pm.
