Budleigh Salterton Lions Club has presented the town’s chamber of commerce with a cheque for £550 following Late Night Shopping

The Christmas spirit of Budleigh Salterton shoppers has raised more than £1,000 for good causes.

Budleigh Salterton Lions Club has donated half their takings from the town’s annual Christmas shopping event to organisers Budleigh and District Chamber of Commerce.

The club held a raffle and a barbecue at Late Night Shopping and provided a grotto for children to visit Father Christmas.

Club president Alan Tilbury presented chamber chairman Mike Hilliar with a cheque for £550 raised on the night.

The other half of the takings will go to the lions’ charity account, money from which is given out to good causes.

• The lions club’s next bingo event will take place at the Public Hall, Station Road, on Wednesday, January 17. Doors open at 6pm for refreshments with eyes down at 7.30pm.
