A Budleigh Salterton service organisation has raised vital funds for a Devon-based cancer charity.

Quiz evenings held by Budleigh Salterton Lions Club has raised a total of £2,000 for the Friends of FORCE branch.

Budleigh lions hold regular quizzes at the Dog and Donkey pub, in Knowle Village, and the proceeds from recent events have gone to the cancer charity.

Alan Griffiths, Sue Newson and Jill Fry of Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton District Friends of FORCE were presented with the cheque by lions Jack Keen and Geoff Paver. The donation will be used at the FORCE cancer centre at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital which helps those affected by the incurable disease.

Budleigh Lions Club’s annual August bank holiday fayre on the seafront takes place this Monday (August 27). The event will include stalls selling artwork, bric-a-brac and jewellery and there will be a treasure hunt with a first prize of £150.
