The Lions Club of Budleigh Salterton aim to break their fundraising record and raise £5,000 at their annual charity golf day. Read this and more.

DROP-IN: A total of 66 completed questionnaires were returned out of 100 forms given out at the recent drop-in day at East Budleigh’s information point.

The afternoon was to gauge which of four sites residents would prefer to see the development of 15 homes.

Parish chairman Steve Baker said that a formal meeting had not taken place because this was the first stage in what could be a prolonged series of discussions.

He said at the last parish council meeting that a public meeting will take place at a future, more advanced stage.

CHARITY GOLF: The Lions Club of Budleigh Salterton aim to break their fundraising record and raise £5,000 at their annual charity golf day on August 22 at East Devon Golf Club.

Last year £4,000 was raised for the Exeter Leukaemia Fund and this year the event will raise money for the North and East Devon Prostate Support Association.

OTTERTON VILLAGE HALL: A total of £10,000 has been pledged by the National Lottery towards refurbishing the kitchen.

JOLLY GOOD FELLOW: Budleigh Salterton’s only Fellow of the Royal Society, Henry Carter FRS (1813-95) will be one of the themes of the new exhibition at Fairlynch Museum.

There will also be a maritime theme including the history of local fishing and salt-making, marine conservation, paintings by local artists inspired by the area’s beautiful coastal scenery.

The exhibition opens on Friday March 29 at 2pm and runs until the end of September 2013.

Admission is free.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: Approximately £200 was raised at Otterton school’s Christmas Bazaar. Christmas carols at the Kings Arms raised a further £470.
