The future maintenance of Budleigh Salterton’s flower beds could be in doubt if volunteers are not found.

Budleigh in Bloom is calling on volunteers to come forward at its next fundraiser to ensure the town’s plants continue to be well looked after.

The charity is holding a coffee morning on Tuesday as part of Gala Week at the Public Hall in Station Road, from 9.30am to noon.

John Ireland, a member of the Budleigh in Bloom committee, said: “Volunteers are diminishing and if are unable to recruit replacements, we will be unable to maintain more than 100 displays around the town and some sites will have to be closed.”

The coffee morning will include stalls selling plants, vegetables, herbs, garden items, cakes, preserves, books and bric-a-brac.

Entrance costs 50p. Tables are available to hire for the event costing £5 each. Anyone interested in hiring a table should ring 01395 443722.
