Budleigh and East Budleigh remember the fallen

Crowds gathered in Budleigh Salterton and East Budleigh to remember those who have died in combat.
Crowds gathered in Budleigh Salterton to remember the fallen who have died in combat.
Residents turned out in force at the war memorial, in Coastguard Hill, to seemore than 30 wreaths laid.
Among those who put wraiths at the war memorial were town mayor Alan Dent and district councillors Steve Hall and Tom Wright.
After the wreath laying, the gathering marched down through the town for the remembrance service at St Peter’s Church, in The Lawn.
The procession was led by fire brigade and this year included the first year students from the Bicton Military Academy, who took the Royal British Legion standard.
The Reverend Trevor Jones led the service at St Peter’s Church attended by around 100 people.
Scores of residents in East Budleigh also attended the act of remembrance held at the war memorial in the village. This was followed by a service held at All Saints Church.
