Budleigh Salterton Lions Club has helped raise money for charity and local organisations with its annual balloon race.
The event was held on Bank holiday Monday, and saw a total of 616 balloons being launched from the beach, with those taking part hoping to get as far away as possible.
There was early disappointment for one entrant, however, as their balloon only made it to Torquay, where it was found at just past 10am by someone who promptly drove it back to Budleigh.
As well as the balloons being released throughout the day there were various stalls available, and the Lions fundraising raised around £1,000.
Club president Geoff Paver said: “It was a wonderful day. The wind changed directions throughout the day, so the balloons went in all directions.”
Those whose balloons have yet to be recovered now wait with anticipation to see which one of them will claim the £100 top prize.
The Lions previously announced that this year’s event will be the final balloon race, due to the rising cost of helium, and they will be lining up a replacement event for next year.
